I’m based in Da Nang for a few days and wondering if it’s realistic to do a day trip to Phong Nha Ke Bang National Park. The distance seems pretty far but I’ve seen some tour operators advertising day trips from Da Nang. Has anyone actually done this and was it worth the long travel time? My concern is spending most of the day on buses and only having a few hours at the actual park. Would it be better to just plan a proper 2-3 day trip to Phong Nha instead? I only have limited time in Vietnam so trying to maximize what I can see without completely exhausting myself. If day trips are feasible, which tour operators offer the best value and what can you realistically see in the time available? Or should I just accept that Phong Nha deserves more time than a day trip allows?
