Phong Nha Caves Vietnam - First Timer Recommendations?

This will be my first time visiting any caves in Vietnam and I’m a bit overwhelmed by all the options in Phong Nha. Which caves would you recommend for someone who has never done cave exploration before? I’m not claustrophobic but also not sure how I’ll react to being underground for extended periods. My preference would be caves that showcase beautiful formations without requiring too much technical climbing or crawling through tight spaces. I’ve heard Paradise Cave is good for beginners but wondering what else I should consider for a 3-day stay. Are there caves that offer different types of experiences so I can try various styles of exploration? Also curious about equipment needs - do tour operators provide everything necessary or should I bring my own gear? Any advice for cave newbies would be really appreciated.

For a chill first-timer i would do paaradise cave (easy walk, huge chambers, very impressive) and phong nha cave … the boat ride inside is relaxing and not tight at all. If you want something a bit more active and silly, Dark Cave (mud, zipline, swim) is fun but kinda more physical.

Skip Son doong unless you want a multi day expedition and a big budget; Hang En needs a trek but is epic if you’ve got time. tour operators give helmets, headlamps and life jackets.. just bring quick dry clothes, sturdy sandals/trainers that can get wet, towel, a dry bag and some cash.

For three days Paradise + Phong Nha + Dark Cave is a nice mix. go have a blast dude!!
