When I visited Phong Nha last year, I booked a jungle trek through the Valley of Ho Yen. The hike started early with a local guide who led our small group through dense forest trails. We crossed streams, climbed rock steps to reach hidden cave entrances, and saw monkeys swinging overhead. The guide shared stories of local legends and pointed out edible plants along the way. After three hours, we arrived at a cave where we set up lunch on a riverside clearing. The trek was challenging but rewarding-definitely bring sturdy shoes, insect repellent, and a waterproof bag for your camera.
