Planning my journey from Hanoi to Phong Nha and trying to decide between train and bus options. I’ve heard the train journey is quite scenic but takes longer, while buses are more direct but maybe less comfortable. Has anyone done both and can compare the experiences? I have a flexible schedule so time isn’t the main factor, more interested in comfort and being able to see the countryside. My budget is mid-range so I can afford sleeper train tickets if they’re worth the extra cost. Also wondering about luggage storage on trains versus buses since I have a large backpack. Are there any particular train routes or bus companies that other travelers recommend? I’m leaning towards the train for the experience but want to make sure it’s actually more enjoyable than just taking a bus.
If you are comfortable with sleeper bus just take an overnight bus from hanoi to phong nha.
I hope you are not taller than 185cm since above that you might have trouble stretching your legs completely in the bus while sleeping.
can take a flight but then you gotta take another 1 hour bus from dong hoi airport to phong nha town or a grab taxi.

Trains in Vietnam are a hit or miss Kara!
Sleeper buses are mostly good but every once in a while I hear a horror story of a driver dozing off -_-
If I were you, I would just take flight to dong hoi airport from hanoi and then take a taxi to phong nha town. save time and hassle (lose money!)
