I’m starting my Phong Nha travel planning-what should I include in my checklist? So far I have: book accommodation, cave tour tickets, travel insurance, and pack trekking gear. What else am I missing-transport bookings, local SIM card, cash exchange, and permits? Should I factor in buffer days for weather delays? Any printable checklist templates or personal checklists you’ve used would be really helpful!

I got a list for you Wendymar ![]()
- Book accommodation + arrival transfer (airport pickup?)
- Lock in cave tours which need advanced booking. pick a good operator. use discount/referral code to get 5-10% off
- Book transport (flights/trains/buses) and last mile rides
- Get a local SIM or eSIM; download offline maps
- Bring some cash + a backup card (ATMs in town)
- Travel insurance that covers cave/trek activities
- Pack: sturdy hiking shoes, light rain jacket, headlamp/torch, swimwear, dry bag, insect repellent, spare socks
- Keep passport/ID copies and emergency contacts handy
- Add 1-2 buffer days for weather or cancellations (wet season ≈ Sep–Jan)
- Pre-book special activities you really want (kayak, zipline, bat tour)
