Landing at Dong Hoi airport next month and need to get to Phong Nha town. What are my best options for transport? I’ve read about shared shuttles, private taxis, and buses but getting mixed information about reliability and cost. My flight arrives around 2pm so I’m hoping to reach Phong Nha with enough time to settle in before evening. Are there any transport services that pick up directly from the airport or do I need to get to the city center first? I’m traveling with a large backpack and some camera equipment so want something reliable. Cost isn’t my main concern but I’d prefer not to get ripped off by tourist prices. Any recent experiences or recommendations would be really helpful for planning my arrival day.

I am a cheap ass person so I just took the local bus which goes almost every hour from dong hoi airport to phong nha town center daily. Also in the opposite direction.
I can’t remember the exact ticket price but it was less than 100k VND.
Just ask your hotel/homestay to pick you up from the bus drop off point in phong nha which usually is right in front of backpacker hostel.
its a small town really and will not take them more than 5 mins by motorbike or car to pick you up.
my homestay owner picked me up without any charge.
well then just take a grab taxi which won’t cost you more than 500k VND ($18).
