I keep hearing about the Duck Stop Phong Nha-what exactly is it and should I go? Is it a quirky roadside café, a small duck farm, or a viewpoint? What do you get to do there-feed ducks, take photos, eat local snacks? How long should I plan for a visit and is it far from the main town center? Are there any entrance fees or minimum orders? Any tips on the best time to go for fewer crowds and nicer lighting for photos?
worth it since its an interesting experience for the lack of better word haha
you get tickled till you are hysterically laughing when tickled by ducks. its hard to explain till you actually experience it!
so duck stop is a bit far from Phong Nha town (center) around 6km or so if I remember right.
but most people rent a bike so would take you like 5-6 mins at most. Else you can just ask your homestay owner to drop you off there (they might charge or not, depends on them).
no entrance fee. it will cost you 150K vnd to do full tour which includes buffalo ride and snacks with beer.
I would just skip the buffalo ride and just do the duck stop which would amount to 100k VND.
go early morning if you wanna avoid crowd but even if its crowded they only take like 4 guests at most at once for the duck leader game.
if you go in summer, afternoons are intensely hot. I got bad sunburn there ![]()
Duck Stop isn’t too far from the center of Phong Nha town, you can easily get there by renting a motorbike or taking a taxi.
From my experience, I found the activities here really fun! You can enjoy the peaceful countryside views, ride a buffalo, and even get a “duck massage” (it’s a bit ticklish but definitely a unique experience
).
You’ll also get to taste delicious bánh xèo (Vietnamese pancakes) made by the local, I really loved it!
