I need to get from Da Nang to Phong Nha and weighing up the different transport options available. Should I take a bus, train, or maybe even a domestic flight if there are connections? My priority is reliability over speed since I have flexible timing, but I also don’t want to spend an entire day just traveling. Are there direct buses or do I need to connect somewhere? I’ve heard the train journey can be scenic but takes quite a while. Cost isn’t my main concern within reason, more interested in a comfortable journey where I can relax or even get some work done. Has anyone compared the different options recently and can share pros and cons of each method? Also wondering about advance booking requirements and whether services run daily or only certain days.

well technically its hoi an to phong nha but its the same since hoi an is like 40 mins from danang center.
if you want short answer - just get a sleeper bus from danang which will take you to phong nha backpacker hostel. that hostel is right in the center of phong nha town.
Don’t take the train. you will then need to take a bus from dong hoi to phong nha after reaching dong hoi train station. or get a costly grab taxi for 500k vnd. doesn’t make sense.
just take the bus and sleep overnight. book it with vexere
rent a motorbike in Da nang and have an adventure of your life because YOLO 
I am serious though. it is really fun as long as you drive safe and do not carry too much baggage.
otherwise bus is the best option imo
