I’m looking for some advice on visiting the caves: are there any caves around Phong Nha I can explore on my own, or do I really need to book a guided tour for all of them?
I know Son Doong and some adventure caves require guided trips, but what about Phong Nha Cave or Paradise Cave?
Son doong is out of my budget that’s why looking for cheaper tours in Phong Nha!
Is it easy to get tickets and find your way, or would you recommend joining a tour for the extra insights and convenience? Any tips on the best tour companies or avoiding crowds?
yes yes yes. You can do tour of Phong Nha caves without a guide!
oxalis and Jungle boss are both the top companies when it comes to phong nha exclusive cave tours.
but for smaller public caves like paradise and dark cave you don’t need to book with a company. just do it on your own

so I already visited phong nha in September 2025 and man it was a blast. had to change dates due to a typhoon in Vietnam but everything worked out.
i did all the main caves of phong nha by myself! took a motorcycle on rent for 130k vnd per day (my own petrol) and just followed the main road which circles the park. did ozo park too in addition to paradise and dark cave and mooc spring.
my favorite was dark cave mud bath and zipline jump !!
water was a bit muddy due to rains but was fun nontheless

I am planning a phong nha tour in december of this year too and was confused if I should book in advance or get a guide. seems like can do on my own..
